Aavakaaya refers to the most famous pickle made in Andhra Pradesh. It is made of raw sour mangoes with salt, powdered mustard and powdered dry red chilli and a lot of oil to float over the mangoes. It has a spicy and tangy taste that goes well with very hot rice and ghee. The dish is a favorite of Andhraites all over the world.
