Batonnet refers to a cooking term indicating food cut into matchstick shapes.
In France, it refers to a petit four in the form of a small stick made of puff pastry or almond paste.
It is also a name for a small baguette and a vegetable garnish, in case of potatoes, these would be larger than allumettes or, for other vegetables, larger than julienne.
