Roomali roti is suggestive of the scarf or handkerchief like appearance of this bread. Shaped without rolling on a board and cooked on a convex iron griddle, this bread is very special to Awadh. The fine texture of the bread makes it an excellent accompaniment for delicate kebabs and kormas.

It also refers to the tender and delicious flatbread from Central India. It is a paper-thin flat bread, cooked on hot charcoal. Literally meaning handkerchief bread, Roomali roti is made out of milk and maida flour. The taste of this bread is unique. It goes well with almost every side dish.
