Ataif also known as Gatayef or Kataif is an Arabic small pancakes stuffed with nuts, like walnuts or cheese and doused with syrup.

These filled pancakes are usually served on Ramadan, Id-ul-Fitr, during wedding celebrations or anytime of the year throughout the Arabic-speaking countries, like Syria and Egypt.

Id-ul-Fitr means the "festival of breaking the fast". The fast of Ramadan is broken with special prayers and festivities.
