Quahog refers to hard shell clams native to the Atlantic coast of America. Quahogs grow from Canda to Florida, but they are more abundant in the stretch between Cape Cod and New Jersey. It is the American Indian name for the East Coast hard shell clam. It is also used to describe the largest of these hard shell clams. They are also known as round clams, chowder or large clams
