Berliner refer to German doughnuts/donuts filled with marmalade or jam. It is also called Berliner Pfannkuche. It is made from yeast dough and fried in oil or fats/lard (Schmalz).

They are usually topped with icing (Zuckerguss ), regular sugar (Zucker) or confectioner's sugar (Puderzucker/Staubzucker)
