Kalo which is also known as taro is eaten in Hawaii as a vegetable (taro leaves) or wrapped around fish and meats, then roast, grill, steam or boil. Kalo leaves gives extra flavor to the fish and meats when it is used to wrap them. The root is cooked and pounded into poi.
