Dahon ng Saging is a Filipino term for "Banana leaf", Dahon means "leaf" and Saging which "Banana". Banana leaves are very abundant in the Philippines as there are many banana plantations all over the country. Dahon ng Saging is used for wrapping sweet delicacies in the Philippines, like Suman and Kakanin , as it imparts a certain flavor to the dishes. It is used as a substitute for plate during traditional feast and used to wrap fish about to be grilled, like Relyenong Bangus (stuffed milkfish).

In India, it is used to serve dishes for Sadya, a traditonal feast in Kerala, a state south of India and also used to wrapped a sweet delicacy called Ela Ada.

Thailand also use Banana Leaves to wrapped sweet delicacies and I am sure other Asian countries also used these leaves one way or the other. The most common use of Dahon ng Saging is to wrap a food. Mostly it is used to wrap in Suman, Bibingka, puto, puto bumbong, and many more. Filipinos also like to use the Dahon ng Saging as a table cover when eating traditional foods with their bare hands (nakakamay).
