Ras el hanout refers to a powdered spice mixture, used in Arabic and north African cooking, with a sweet and pungent flavor. It is a Moroccan spice mixture that can contain up to 100 different spices and is used in couscous, rice, meat and vegetable dishes.

It is also called Moroccan seasoning, is a popular blend of herbs and spices that originated in Morocco and used in other parts of North Africa.

Raz el hanout is often used as a seasoning when preparing lamb, game, couscous, stew, tagines, vegetables, rice, and a sweet food known as majoun.
