Teig is the German word for  "batter or dough". There are several batter or dough used in German cooking or baking:

(1) Mürbeteig  - short or shortcrust pastry

(2) Hefeteig  -  yeast/leavened dough

(3) Blatterteig - flaky pastry

(4) Rührteig - sponge mixture/batter/dough
