Baladi refers to a soft unripened cheese from Lebanon with a mild, slightly salted flavor. It is similar to Akawie, but with a more compact texture. "Baladi" literally means "local", hence Baladi cheese means " local cheese ". Baladi which is also called " mountain cheese " and is known as Jibneh Khadra in Arabic was originally made with unpasteurized goat/sheep/cow milk.
