Kaffekränzchen refers to German old-fashioned expression for having cakes and coffee at around 16:00 (this is how the Germans say their time and not the usual 4:00 in the afternoon or 4 P.M.). In Germany, most gatherings and family activities are usually scheduled in the afternoon and only for Koffee and cakes (kuchen 2 to 3 kinds), often topped with cream and nothing more in between. Also, the word "Kaffeekränzchen" is now used for unsuccessful business meetings that end up without substantial decisions.
