Atole refers to the authentic Mexican thick beverage which is served and enjoyed in Mexico with tamales.It is popular not only in Mexico, but in some parts of Soutwestern America. It is made from a combination of masa, water or milk, crushed fruit and sugar or honey. Atole is also used as a beverage to soothe an upset stomach. It can be served hot or room temperature.
