Comice Pear
Comice Pear (Scientific Binomial Name: Pyrus communis) refers to a variety of pear with a large green and yellow fruit that looks like it is blushing. Its flesh is sweet and delicious raw. Comice Pears are eaten fresh, in salads or use in fruit baskets. A good Comice Pear is that of medium-sized or larger with no bruises and only a few minor scuff marks. The coloring will be green-yellow with an occasional red blush.
To store Comice Pears: It should be handled with care, especially when fully ripe. It should be ripened in a cool, dark place, and may only be refrigerated for a few days.
