Café is a French term for coffee.

Café can refer to coffee as a drink, or to a place where coffee is served, such as a coffee shop or café. In many countries, a café is a place where people can go to have a cup of coffee, as well as to socialize or work. Cafés often serve a variety of different types of coffee, as well as other beverages such as tea, hot chocolate, and soda. They may also serve food, such as pastries, sandwiches, and other light meals. Some examples of dishes or items that might be found at a café include:

  • Espresso and espresso-based drinks (such as cappuccino, latte, etc.)
  • Drip coffee and other brewed coffee drinks
  • Iced coffee and other cold coffee drinks
  • Hot chocolate and other cocoa-based drinks
  • Tea (such as black tea, green tea, herbal tea, etc.)
  • Pastries (such as croissants, muffins, scones, etc.)
  • Sandwiches and other light meals
  • Snacks (such as cookies, crackers, etc.)
