Gomi refers to a Georgian dense pasty dish made from cornmeal or wheat flour cooked without spices. It is served hot with spicy dishes, instead of bread. Gomi is similar to talian polenta or Romanian Mamaliga . Gomi is available in local supermarkets in Georgia. Gomi is very easy to cook, it is just made from a mixture of cornmeal, salt and water ( 1 cup cornmeal to 2 cups water). The mixture is cooked in a pan until it is thick and steaming. Gomis can be eaten with a variety of sauces poured on top of it. It is used as a compliment to a dish.
