Schichtkäse refers to curd Cheese made from cow's milk (cream Cheese and cottage Cheese combined). It is one of the specialties from state of Bavaria in Germany. It is similar to Quark (another German product) but a bit harder. Schichtkäse  is traditionally used to Bake cheesecakes. Can be used in a way as Quark in preparing sweets/desserts and savory dishes.
