Takokak is the Indonesian word for "eggplant" or "aubegine", a kind of vegetable used all over in all types of cuisine all over the world. A very reliable vegetable made into a lot of delicious dishes.
Takokak is used a lot in the Philippines, or all of Asian nations, and in Germany, they are now getting popular and was probably introduced by so many Turkish and Persias who live in Germany. My German husband never likes Eggplant, but when we eat in our favorite Persian restaurant, he always orders Eggplant stuffed with Hackfleisch (ground meat) with sauce. I grew up eating eggplant, one of the cheapest vegetables found in the Philippines.
Tales is Indonesian word for "Taro" which is also commonly known as Elephant ear or Dasheen. There are a variety of recipes using parts of the Taro plant, from the leaves to the fruit. The corm can be baked, boiled or roasted. Taro flour, bread and chips are the other commercial products made from taro.
There are many Filipino dishes which uses taro as the main ingredient, like Laing.
Tastykake refers to one of the foods which the people of Philadelphia loves; a prepackaged , snack-sized dessert and the brandname for a line of snack foods manufactured by the Tasty Baking Company. Tastykake is available in several varieties such as Butterscotch Krimpet, Chocolate Junior, Kandy Kakes, and Tasty Pies and can be purchased at any convenience stores in the city. Tastykake was baked in town since 1917.
