Frozen Daiquiri

Frozen Daiquiri refers to heavily iced Daiquiri. Daiquiri refers to a cocktail which is traditionally made from mixture of rum, lime, and sugar, served over ice; an iced drink containing rum, lime juice, and syrup or sugar. It is named after Daiquiri, rum-producing town on the east coast of Cuba. Constantino Ribalagua, the famed bartender at Havana’s La Floridita nicknamed La Catedral del Daiquiri blended the drink with shaved ice, thereby creating the Frozen Daiquiri. Chief among those who adhered to Frozen Daiquiri was Ernest Hemingway. Ribalagua specifically created a sugarless Papa Dobles for Papa Hemingway, who apparently could drink a dozen of these at one sitting.
