Urfa (Peppers)

- Urfa (Peppers) : Urfa peppers is a variety of pepper from Turkey which take its name from the city which they are grown. Urfa comes from the region surrounding the city of Sanliurfa which is located in the south-central region of Turkey near the Syrian border. Urfa is known for its complex flavor and medium heat which compliment many dishes from vegetables to seafood to steak. The Urfa pepper is a large pepper with a rounded tip. When dried Urfa has an almost purple color, a mellow heat and a fruity and smoky flavor. Sanliurfa is one of the most famous regions in Turkey because of its pepper.

Urfa Biber

Urfa Biber (Capsicum annum) refers to a is a sun-dried pepper that originated from Turkey and made into a rich pepper flake. This spice has an earthy, smoky edge that hints at chocolate and tobacco alongside a mild heat giving it a well rounded, complex flavor. Urfa Biber is similar to Aleppo in terms of heat level and it also has a wide range of uses and will enhance most any dish. Moreover, Urfa Biber is a dark reddish-purple color smoky chile pepper from Urfa, Turkey. The chilis are harvested, dried, then ground. The ground pepper provides just a moderate amount of heat and is used with meats and salads. Urfa Biber is also known as Urfa Chili Flakes, Urfa Pepper or Isot Pepper. Biber is the Turkish word for Pepper.
