Blaa (Blaas)

- Blaa (Blaas) :

Blaa refers to the traditional Irish bread. Blaas are light-as-air bread roll, soft floury bread product unique to the city of Waterford located in the south of Ireland.

The world famous "Blaa’" is eaten mainly at breakfast time in Waterford City. Its introduction to Waterford City has been credited to the French Huguenots who settled in Waterford City in 1693.

Boodle Fight

Boodle Fight refers to a military style of eating practicesd in Pampanga where long tables are prepared and food are on top of the banana leaves. Viands and rice ready to eat using bare hands. Jugs of water are prepared on the side to wash hands before the "eating combat”. With the signal to start the Boodle Fight , everyone aims for his/her position.

Binagol

Binagol refers to a popular sweet from the province of Tacloban which is a sweet kakanin cooked in coconut shells or bagol, hence the name. The root crop talyan is the main star, which is mixed with coconut milk, sugar and peanuts. Banana leaves and strings wrap it up. It’s sweet and with its size, it’s meant to be shared. So far, binagol is only available in Tacloban, e.g. Dagami, for around P30 to P40.

Balisungsung

Balisungsung refers to a Filipino native food made of white rice in or wrapped in banana leaves. Balisungsung is said to be the specialty of the Malolos in the province of Bulacan. In Bulacan province, Balisungsung is a staple food and mostly seen served during fiestas, special ocassions, big parties and family gatherings. Balisungsung is like an individual serving of rice wrapped beautifully in banana leaves, each wrapped serving is equivalent to a scoop of rice.

Balisungsung is not dessert or a snack. It is intended to be eaten with favorite Filipino food dish as a substitute for normal everyday plain steaming white rice.

Balakwit

Balakwit, a type of edible seashell found and consumed in the Philippines, particularly in Marinduque, Philippines. Marinduque is an island near Quezon Province .

My friend who lives in Cebu, in the Visayas Island of the Philippines said that this seashell is called Aninikad in Cebu and usually cooked with coconut milk or gata.
