Elver is the English word for "young eel", a type of fish which may be sauteed or batter-fried.

Embotits refers to the catch all name for meat products in Catalan, such as ham and sausages which are called Embutidos in Spanish. There are two (2) types of Embotits in Catalan: fresh and cured.

Embudo is the Filipino term for funnel. It is also called Balisungsong which means funner or funnel-shaped

Embutido (Spanish) is a filipino term for a ground pork roll.

Embutido mixto is the Spanish for "assortment of cured meats"

Embutidos de Caza is the Spanish for "cold cuts of game", referring to sliced assorted cold meats of animals killed in a hunt or meat from wild animals used as food

Ementa is the Portuguese which means "menu"

Emincer is the French word which means "to slice thinly". It means to cut fruits and vegetables into thin slices shorter that julienned. However, this term is most often used when referring to meats that has to be "sliced thinly"

Emotional Eating refers to the consumption of food in response to emotional states rather than physiological hunger. This behavior is often linked to psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, or boredom, and can lead to unhealthy eating patterns if left unaddressed. While occasional emotional eating is common, chronic reliance on food for emotional regulation may contribute to long-term health issues, including obesity and metabolic disorders.

Empanada refers to a crescent-shaped pastry turnover stuffed/filled with savory meats and vegetables fillings or sweet fruit fillings. Empanada's recipe varies from cook to cook. In Ilocos Region, in the north of the Philippines, there are already two (2) famous Empanada, the one from Vigan, Ilocos Sur and Empanada Batac from Batac, Ilocos Norte

In the Philippines, some Empanadas are not only filled with meats, but pieces of meats, like pork and chicken are sauteed with small cubes of potatoes, green peas and some have raisins.

I am proud of the the Empanada which is sold in the San Pablo City, Laguna which is buy whenever I visit my relatives in Metro Manila as my treat coming from the province (Pasalubong, we call it in the Philippines) whenever I have my vacation in the Philippines. It is made by El Mare. Their Empanada are always freshly baked.

Below are various Empanadas I found in a Mexican Bakeshop in Houston, Texas. I chose the one with a sweet filling made of sweetened mashed pumpkins/squash and sweet potatoes

Below is an Empanada sold as street food also in my city in the Philippines during Food Night Market. Not so good because it is deep-fried and a bit oily, but it is a filling snacks
