Songphyun is one of the must-have favorites foods during Chusok. Chusok is also known as Korean Thanksgiving. Chusok, which means "fall evening," was traditionally a day in which Korean farmers performed a worship ritual and offered food made from their new crops to their ancestors as a token of gratitude. Nowadays, families celebrate this holiday together by paying respects to their ancestors, playing games and eating food made from freshly harvested rice, grains and fruits.
