The food glossary +++ 'Zhimaqiu', 'Zalivnoe', 'Zapekanka'

Zha Jiang Mian refers to a food from northern China made of wheat noodles that are covered with a ground pork mixture.

Zaru Soba is a food from Japan made of Soba noodles served cold with strips of dry seaweed and dipped in cold sauce with horse radish and chopped green onions.

Soba is a Japanese noodles made from buckwheat flour.

Zulus traditionally portioned their meat  according to gender and age:

Adult men are eating the "high status portions" , the head, liver and right-front leg; the boys are given the feet, lower leg portions and lungs; and the tripe and ribs are considered suitable for women.

The Zulu is the largest South African ethnic group

Zapiekanki refer to baked foot-long, open-faced baguettes topped with sauce and cheese. It is one of snacks found in the country and fondly called as "Polish Pizza".

Zwiebelkuchen is the German word which literallly means "onion cake" . It is actually a savory cake made of sauteed onions, cream, eggs and bacon on a rich yeast dough crust.  It is a kind of  savory Blechkuchen . Zwiebelkuchen is very popular in Germany's wine regions during Autumn.

It is also popular in other German, speaking countries like Austria and Switzerland and even in a region in France near the border of Germany. In Bern, Switzerland, it is called Zibelechueche, while it is called  Zwiebelwähe (Zwiebelwaehe) (onion tart) in Basel , Switzerland.

Zwiebelkuchen is also known in English as Onion Cake, Onion Tart, Onion Pie or Onion Quiche

Zhimaqiu are "Sesame Balls".
