Effort in the food context does not refer to an edible ingredient or food item, but rather to the amount of physical, mental, or creative energy invested in preparing, cooking, or presenting food. It encompasses the planning, labor, technique, and care involved in making a dish—from a quick weekday meal to a complex, gourmet experience.
The egg is the organic vessel containing the zygote in which an embryo develops until it can survive on its own, at which point the animal hatches. An egg results from fertilization of an egg cell. Most arthropods, vertebrates (excluding live-bearing mammals), and mollusks lay eggs, although some, such as scorpions, do not.
