Puff-Puff / Puff Puff

Puff-Puff are Nigerian traditional round doughnuts made by combining flour, yeast, butter, eggyolk, vanilla flavoring, etc. to make a dought. This dough is then formed into a regular- sized circular or puff form by scooping it into the hollow of your fingers and fry in hot oil on moderate heat. Puff-Puff are serve as hot or cold snack, sometimes dipped in sugar.

Puffs are filled pastry or filo/phyllo, flaky pastry served as snacks in Kerala, India. The filo/phyllo, flaky pastry is stuffed or filled with seasoned whole boiled eggs (Egg Puffs), assorted vegetables, meat or fish.

I was actually amazed when I saw these Puffs almost all Bakeries/Bakeshops in Kerala, until I realized that maybe they inherited this recipe from the English conquerors. Puffs are one of the available foods during early mornings for breakfast in Allepey, a district in Kerala since most restaurants are opening late. I am an early riser and I eat breakfast mostly, so i survived my trip with Puffs most of the time by going to an opened Bakeshop/Bakery.

Pulao

Pulao refers to a delicately flavored rice, sautéed in ghee and flavored with whole spices like cumin, cloves, and many others. Just like the other Indian foods and dishes, there are many Pulao varieties.

Pulla

Pulla simply refers to cinnamon bun or bun spiced with cinnamon, rolled in layers of cinnamon; or round sugar-buns spiced with cardamom and sugar on top. Pulla is traditionally served with coffee. Moreover, Pulla is defined as a Finnish braided yeast bread/cake scented with cardamom. To make the Pulla, the moist yeast dough is shaped into a braid and then thickly sliced after baking. Pulla is sometimes sweetened with raisins.
