Sinigang refers to Filipino method of cooking meats, fish or vegetables with sour fruit, like tamarind, tomatoes, guavas or calamansi


Other definition:
Sinigang refers to a Filipno stew of meat (pork and beef) /fish/seafood (shrimp) and vegetables in a sour broth. Tomatoes, guava, calamansi, and tamarind are usually the ingredients used to sour the broth.

What a lovely dish! My favorite is my Mom's Sinigang na Baboy, especially when the flesh is so soft like it melts in the mouth, but my elder sister likes more the Sinigang na Baka

Sinigang na Baboy is a classic Filipino dish known for its sour and savory flavors, primarily featuring pork (baboy) simmered in a tangy broth. The sourness traditionally comes from tamarind (sampalok), although other souring agents like kamias (bilimbi), green Mango, or calamansi can also be used, depending on the region or personal preference. Sinigwelas / Siniguelas

Sinigwelas / Siniguelas refer to native plums found in the Philippines which only comes during summer season. They are eaten as is straight from the tree.

When I was a child summer is synonymous with Siniguelas. One of my favorite native fruits which I never ever found in all my travels.

Sinki refers to a vegetarian food of Sikkim in India. Sinki is fermented radish tap root prepared during winter, when plenty of fresh radish are still available. Sinki is served as a good appetizer due to the high content of lactic and acetic acid developed during fermentation.
